Course Description

In this workshop, the theory of developmental editing will be reviewed, and attendees will have the opportunity to have the assignment from their previous workshop #1 (creating a plot diagram for a book they just read) reviewed and discussed. The Instructor will cover the following topics:

  • Character development and dialogue
  • Pacing and readability
  • POV and voice elements of fiction

Students will complete hands-on exercises designed to provide practical experience in assessing and actually editing a partial manuscript.

This workshop is the second of two that will translate to one elective credit for the Editing Program's Developmental Editing for Fiction course.

This workshop is open to students who did not complete the 1 workshop of this series.

Note that attendees will be asked to bring a laptop that has MS Word, and they must know how to work in Track Changes.
