Course Description

This course will cover 4,000 years of archaeological, art historical, and textual sources to examine how and when women held power in the land of the Nile. This course is anchored by the lives of six women who ruled Egypt in times of prosperity, chaos, and despair. From slaves to craftswomen, physicians to priestesses, queens to goddesses, we will examine the uniqueness of how women molded the culture of Egypt.
