Course Description

Ed Paschke (1939-2004) was a profound and original Chicago based artist. In his work, Paschke developed a unique style and an unusual approach to subject matter. In addition, Paschke’s work with color is also quite different than many of his peers. In a century of global art, Paschke insisted on being a Chicago artist: his work reflects his responses to different faces of the City and its residents.

This class, at the Ed Paschke Art Center located at 5415 W. Higgins Ave, Chicago, allows us to assess Paschke’s artistic contribution and put it in context of Contemporary American art.

This class will include a short film on Paschke, a brief classroom discussion and a detailed viewing of selected major works.
