Course Description

Jewish writers from their inception seem to have been assigned the job of composing books that function as mankind’s Virgil, chronicling guided tours through history’s Infernos, Purgatories and Paradises. In the twentieth century, especially, Jewish writers had to hold up mirrors to the most atrocious hells humanity had constructed for itself along with its consequences and so make sure mankind did not remain morally blind and psychologically oblivious to its own nature. The works in this course therefore bequeath unflinching revelations about humanity, unforgettable and life changing.
