Course Description

This course is designed for individuals who want to develop their professional writing skills. The course will focus on teaching participants creative writing principles and ethics-based professional storytelling, as well as fostering collegiality and community through writing.  Over the course of eight weeks, participants will engage in dialogue, conversation, writing exercises and readings.  Student will be asked to write, read aloud, and participate in class discussion.  

This course is taught by Scott Lax, an instructor at the University of Chicago Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies. Lax is a novelist, playwright, screenwriter, nonfiction writer, and producer, including authoring two books, The Year That Tremble and Vengeance Fellows. He is also an accomplished freelance journalist and columnist writing for clients such as Comedy Central, ESPN, and Oracle.
