Course Description

Ever wondered how it is that we know what we think we know? Dive into twentieth-century philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein’s accessible and engaging On Certainty, in which a new mode of inquiry into skepticism, faith, and the human condition emerges. Written as a response to G. E. Moore’s attempted refutation of skepticism, On Certainty strives to illuminate underlying grammatical and logical conditions of general epistemological claims through pointed queries, imaginative constructions, and strikingly brilliant insights. No background or previous familiarity with the text is required.
