Course Description

The life's summation of perhaps the greatest Classical composer, the valedictory late works of Beethoven include his masterly dissertations on God and man (Missa Solemnis and Ninth Symphony), profound expressions of love and mortality (sonatas and quartets), and plentiful humor sometimes verging on the slapstick (Diabelli variations). Using CDs, DVDs, documents and analysis, this course intensively explores this most sublime of musical repertories.
