Course Description

This course  deals with the issue of science and religion and attempts to offer a richer understanding of these concepts ; it proposes an historical detour by looking at various authors from classical philosophy ages to the modern times: Plato, Aristotle, Dante, Hildegard of Bingen, Galileo, Francis Bacon and Descartes. The goal of this course is to build a framework in which the dialogue between these  two views of reality might be possible. As we explore these great thinkers, we may realize that the notions of science and religion are not contradictory but rather complementary and complex.
