Course Description

“Pitch” is short for “sales pitch,” and it’s good to keep that in mind when writing for both online and traditional media. In this class, we’ll discuss placing your finished work and crafting pitches based on pieces not yet written. We’ll talk about coming up with ideas that are timely and ways to report, interview, and research in order to ground and enhance your work. Between class sessions, you'll write a draft that we'll discuss at the second meeting. It may not feel natural to have to sell your work and yourself as a writer, but it’s often necessary. This class is intended to make the process less anxiety-producing.
