Course Description

In this workshop, we will explore the craft issues related to flash nonfiction. Writing shorter pieces of 700-1,000 words, will allow you to work on intensity of language, wrapping an idea in a compelling story, and exploring structure, word choice and voice. We will also read and discuss flash nonfiction essays in our text. *During the first two weeks of class we will discuss essays in our text, partake in at least two in-class writing prompts and you will be given a writing prompt to take with you and work on during the week. You will turn one of the exercises into a draft of a complete essay that you will present in workshop during week three or four.
