Course Description

Most product development teams are now embracing a more agile mindset. These agile teams favor short-term plans over long-term requirements. They embrace change and look for opportunities for feedback. Improved agility also helps the team deliver innovative higher-quality products. Instead of trying to develop a bloated product that does everything, an agile team zeros in on what the customer finds the most valuable. But agility is not just a new set of practices. It's an entirely new way to think about your work. This course helps your team embrace that mindset and apply it to new or existing products.

This course is the first course of the specialization track in Agile. It must be completed before PMGT11202 (Transform organizations with agile practices).

This course also qualifies as education contact hours for Project Management Institute's Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP®) exam (see PMI's PMI-ACP Handbook for requirements regarding experience). The students must pass the final exam and attend the training to receive their 16 contact hours needed to sit for the PMI-ACP exam.

This course uses "experiential learning." Every team will participate in a mock agile product. Students will use the project as a vehicle to understand agile processes. There will be short presentation on the concept and then the project work will begin. The mock project will use Legos® blocks and will not require any managerial or technical knowledge. Questions throughout the course are encouraged, required and happily accepted.

PMP and PMBOK are registered marks of the Project Management Institute, Inc.
