From the debut of photographic postcards at the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893, to the digitally crafted conceptual works of Jason Salavon at the University of Chicago, we will survey a spectrum of work. How do scenes, schools and curators define local artistry? Among photographers with Chicago links we will look at: Dawoud Bey, Harry Callahan, Alan Cohen, Barbara Crane, Terry Evans, Ron Gordon, Kenneth Josephson, Nathan Lerner, Laura Letinsky, Vivian Maier, László Moholy-Nagy, Carlos Javier Ortiz, Gordon Parks, Melissa Pinney, Aaron Siskind, Bob Thall, Art Shay, Brian Ulrich, Eva Watson-Schütze and John White.
