Course Description

From the relative backwater of ancient Macedonia emerged one of the most influential persons of human history, Alexander III, known to history as “Alexander the Great”. Born in the political shadows of post-Periclean Athens, Alexander assumed both his father’s crown and his dream: the conquest of the Persian Empire. This course outlines the life of Alexander and the expansion of Hellenistic imperialism from his birth to the assimilation of the Hellenistic world by Imperial Rome.
