Course Description

This course is designed for individuals who want to develop their essay writing skills. Over the course of eight weeks, participants will develop a walking and writing practice. Participants will observe the ways walking supports the use of the senses in the description of places, past and present. This course includes a workshop element; writing generated in the course will be workshopped by fellow students.

This course is taught by Dina Elenbogen, an instructor at the University of Chicago Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies. Elenbogen is author of the poetry collections, Apples of the Earth, and Shore and the memoir, Drawn from Water. The recipient of fellowships from the Illinois Arts Council and the Ragdale Foundation, her work has appeared in anthologies and magazines including Fury, City of the Big Shoulders, Beyond Lament, Lit Hub, Bellevue Literary Review, Brevity, Prairie Schooner, Woven Tale Press, Patterson Literary Review, Connecticut River Review, New City Chicago, and other venues.

*Special Note* This course will not meet on October 24th and 31st. Those class sessions will be made up on December 5th and 12th.
