Course Description

Sometimes the writer must stay in her literal or metaphorical garret, alone with her muse. Other times the writer needs to look outward and strive to be a good literary citizen. That could mean attending and arranging readings and book fairs, buying books, mentoring and teaching, supporting other writers on social media, taking part in writers' and arts' organizations, writing reviews, subscribing to and working on literary magazines, lobbying for the arts. In this two-session class, we will explore the concept of literary citizenship and each student will plan and begin a literary citizenship project of their own. WRIT82203
