Course Description

Like an Olympic gymnastics routine, the difference between a gold medal and no spot on the podium can depend on whether or not a story sticks the landing. But how do you harness a story’s momentum until its final moments, making sure that it achieves a strong, memorable conclusion without either stumbling out of control or dwindling to an ineffective halt? We will consider different types of endings and how their authors shaped them. We will then try these techniques ourselves in an attempt to determine how to bring our pieces to their best possible close. Narrative nonfiction and fiction writers, this class is for you!
