WRIT52607 - Scene Workshop

Course Description

In this six-week course, we will discuss and workshop scenes, the stepping stones of your character’s journey. Managing the tension between where your characters think they are going vs. where they need to go is one element that makes a scene come alive. Together, we'll discuss and apply techniques to create an arresting scenic stew of competing agendas, outside interferences, and difficult choices. In addition to working on the fundamental elements of scene, we will explore how scenes lead us toward story resolution, to the aha moment when what you want to say about this particular character’s struggle in a noncompliant, even hostile, world becomes clear. Participants should come prepared to read, critique, and support each other’s work.
